A Comparative Study to Find the Efficacy of Interferential Therapy (IFT) and Conventional Therapy v/s Conventional Therapy in Patients with Cervical Radiculopathy
Author :
The cervical spine consists of several pair of joints. It is the area in which stability has been sacrificed for mobility, making the cervical spine particularly vulnerable to injury because it sits in between a heavy head and a stable thoracic spine and ribs. The cervical spine is divided into two areas: upper cervical (C0- C2) and lower cervical (C3- C7)(1). Acute neck pain is a relatively common experience that usually declines and disappears within a couple of weeks. Some patients do not recover and with time develop a chronic cervical pain condition that also may involve pain in the shoulder and arm, being most pronounced on one side(2). Cervical radiculopathy is a dysfunction of a nerve root of the cervical spine; it is the damage or disturbance of nerve function that results if one of the nerve roots near the cervical vertebrae is compressed. Damage to nerve roots in the cervical area can cause pain and the loss of sensation in different parts of the upper extremities, depending on where the damaged roots are located.

Intracranial locations include the parieto-occipital lobe, lateral ventricle and cerebellopontine angle (1,2,3). The fact that the presence of this tumor in the buttock region is extremely rare has prompted the authors to report this case.
